VCN – More than 40kg of methamphetamine which was hidden in granite stone blocks was detected by competent forces who arrested five subjects when it was preparing to be disinfected to load on board the ships for exporting to South Korea.

The narcotics were detected by the Department of Criminal and Drug Prevention – Command of Border Defence force and C04, A06 of Ministry of Public Security, Unit 6 – Anti-smuggling and Investigation Department – General Department of Vietnam Customs and professional units.
On the morning of July 19 at Cat Lai port area – HCM City, the working group conducted an urgent search for a 20-foot container weighing nearly 30 tonnes. The goods were declared as granite stone. When preparing to be disinfected to load on board the ships for exporting to INCHEON port of South Korean, the force discover a large amount of methamphetamine hidden inside the rocks.
This line of trading and transporting drugs was gathered by subjects who brought drugs from abroad to HCM City and disguise to hide drugs in the shipment of granite stone for exporting to third countries.
According to a representative of the specialised project team, this was the first time a project having the cooperation of Koreans and Chinese subjects. Also, this was the first time subjects used construction stones to hide drugs.
Through searching the stone blocks, the force seized 40 kg of synthetic drug. At the same time, arresting five subjects, including two Chinese people, two South Korean people and one Vietnamese person.
Notably, the leader of the line was Korean and worked in the Korean Police Force for 20 years. He went to Vietnam and rented a house in District 2 (HCM City) to stay and operate this drug line.
